We are living in the age of revolution and soon the information would become a necessity rather than commodity. The entire world is looking forward for the forthcoming phase, when each and everyone would be in connection of each other, through various media and the concept of globalization would acquire its appropriate meaning. As the technology is growing faster, the dream of ‘being connected’ would soon turn into reality. 'The journalism' is seeing such a juncture as it saw never before. The scenario is changing day by day and each day is inception of new possibilities.

The youth is the future of nation and media is considered as fourth pillar of democracy so it is apparent that the future of democracy is in the hand of people who are connected and concern with media. The young lot coming in the field of media would lead the nation into the path of truth and humanity. But it is need of hour to educate and train future media people in such a way that they can do their job with reliability and responsibility. The school of Journalism and Mass Communication, is a university teaching department of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyala which is creating such upcoming media people since last 21 years and has established itself as a pioneer institute of central india in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The department focuses on perfect development of students to become distinguished media professionals. Along with comprehensive knowledge of subjects related with Journalism and Mass Communication, the institute also provide technical training for related subjects. The guidance is provided in such a way that student can understand the basic principles and adopt it to the actual situation. The advance teaching techniques, include two way communication between student and educator. Media is expanding it's wings towards new horizons as the field is growing day by day. New areas are being open for the people who, want to make their career in a field, which is creative and distinguished to make a distinct existence in the crowd. In such circumstances it has become necessary that people coming in this field should be well learned and acquainted with this field completely. This responsibility is of the reliable educational institutions to provide best- learned lot to the media and related industries. The School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyala is one of the best institution in media education at national level, which provides creative opportunities to the innovative people, to convert their abilities into art and science of consequential communication.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication aims for shaping the students in a manner that they can contribute their best for the media industry. The school also opens new arena of success for the students interested in print and electronic media, public relations, film journalism, advertising, media management, online editing, web journalism, television and radio journalism etc. On the other hand, the institution provides a high level technical guidance of every subject. With the highly educated and experience team of faculty members, the institute prepares student to face future challenges and to conquer the battle for distinctive existence. It is well said that a good media, is a nation talking to itself and the institution prepares future media people for the sacred cause of bringing truth out before people. The media is enjoying it’s youth, as it’s inception is not very old. There are ample possibilities of research in this field. The institution provides national levels research facilities in media study. Apart from that, the regular courses i.e. MA in mass communication, BA (Hons) and BJ the institution offers M.Phil and Advance research facilities to the student. PhD programme is also available here, for those people who want to explore new dimensions in the field of media.
